How do we operate?
What are the work days and hours?
Recur operates 24 hours from Monday to Saturday. We move containers every day of the week except Public Holidays.
What time does the shifts start?
Day Shift – 6am to 5pm
Night Shift – 6pm to 5am
Do you guys have any swinglift work?
No, all our clients have hoists at their sites.

I’m out of Auckland, can I still work for you?
Currently most of our work is Auckland based. Being an Owner Driver with Recur would suit best drivers living within Auckland.
How do I get the work?
Our dispatch team plans the work in advance. Jobs with instructions are sent to your smartphone before your shift starts.
Is there any paperwork?
No, all our dispatching is done over the cloud, internet and your smartphone.

How much will a contract cost?
Starting at $10,000 NZD +GST
What do I get paid for?
You will get paid for every container move.
How much do we get paid?
We pay the best in the industry for Owner Drivers in our sector.
When will I expect to be paid?
Recur Transport offers Advance Pay – the fastest payment for Owner Drivers in New Zealand. With Advance Pay you will receive your gross earnings by the 6th of the following month – almost a month faster than the industry standard.
Do you guys take a percentage commission on rates?
No, we pay fixed rates.
Do you guys pay the Net or Gross amount?
Gross, Owner Drivers are responsible for running costs of the business such as RUC, truck repairs, wages etc.
Is your earnings plus GST?
Yes, we pay GST of 15% on top of your rates.
Do I need to be GST registered?
Yes, according to rules of Inland Revenue (if your annual turnover is more than $60,000).
Can you help us get finance for a trailer?
Absolutely, once you sign on board we can help you obtain finance. Generally you will need at least 25% deposit for a truck.
Do you offer fuel cards?
Yes
Do you offer discounts on the pump rates?
Yes
Do I need to send an invoice every month?
No, we’ll automatically send you a Buyer Created Tax Invoice (BCTI).
Are there any ongoing costs?
No.
Will I get backloads?
No, majority of our work is without a backload.

What do I need?
What type of truck and trailer?
We accept any truck and trailer in sound mechanical condition capable of transporting 20 and 40 foot empty containers. You do not require a swinglift, all our clients have hoists which will load and offload containers from your truck. An ideal trailer for empty work is a single or double axle skeleton trailer.
You can use any truck-trailer combination, however the most popular set up is:
Truck Type: 2 axle Tractor Unit – modified to take a 20 foot container
Trailer: 1 axle Semi trailer. Can take 2*20 or 1*40 container.
How much does it cost to buy a truck and trailer?
It would vary depending on the model, etc. However, you can buy a tractor unit for $60k and a trailer unit for about $30k. You would need light trailer, single axle derated truck.
What are the legal requirements?
An Owner Driver contract will be provided if we accept your application. You and your staff must have full carrier’s insurance and public liability insurance. You and your staff must hold a health and safety manual and comply with all safety requirements of Recur and our clients.

Do you have any year requirements on trucks?
No, so long as it is in tidy working order, COF, RUC and registrations up to date.
Do I need sign writing?
Yes, you will need to sign write your truck(s) in the near future.
Do I require a new model of truck?
The choice of truck is completely up to you, however, you should bear in mind that the older truck models can lead to higher running costs.

When can I start?
Firstly, we’ll get back to you with availability. We get flooded with enquiries and we only choose Owner Drivers who we think suit our company best.
Are there seasonal fluctuations? Quiet periods in the year?
Not many, in our sector we have the most number of clients which enables us to have a more consistent workflow right throughout the year.
Where do I park my truck?
All our Owner Drivers organise yard space or off-street parking to park their truck(s).
