What is a VBS?
The Vehicle Booking System (VBS) allows road carriers to book timeslots for the pick-up or delivery of containers at either of the two container terminals at the Ports of Auckland. The system has been instrumental in helping the port cater for increased truck volumes while simultaneously reducing turnaround times. VBS allows each truck to enter the gates at the Port with a paperless, verified code and have it arrival automatically alert a straddle to collect or deliver its container.
What is EROAD (ERD)?
EROAD (ERD) is a publicly listed company listed on the NZX. EROAD has created an electronic solution to manage and pay Road User Charges (RUC), support regulatory compliance and provide value-added commercial services to the heavy vehicle industry. In 2009, EROAD implemented the world’s first network-wide GPS/cellular-based road user charging system, which modernised the existing paper-based RUC regime in New Zealand.
The EROAD system consists of a secure electronic distance recorder (Ehubo), combined with a bank-grade payment gateway and services portal. They undertake design and manufacture of the Ehubos, as well as software development, from their headquarters in Auckland.
